Do you have a favourite piece of clothing that’s seen better days?
Can’t find a replacement anywhere, or wish you had it in more colours, prints, or fabrics?
If you’re nodding yes, look no further!
📆 Date : Saturday 16th August
📍 Location: Perfect Theatre Studios, Bray
⏰ Duration: Full day workshop 10am - 4.30pm (including half hour lunch)
Who is this workshop for?
This is perfect for you if you have some experience sewing a garment from a commercial pattern, however no pattern-making experience is necessary.
What will be covered?
✅ How to assess a garment for copying suitability
✅ How to trace shapes without unpicking
✅ Adding seam allowances, grain lines, notches, and labels
✅ Quality Control: Checking pattern accuracy
✅ How to note assembly instructions for future use
✅ Tips for adjusting patterns later
What to Bring?
All pattern tracing materials and tools will be provided. You just need:
- Garments (approx. 3 options to choose 1)
- Pencil, notebook
- x3 Pattern Weights (DIY welcome!) No fancy tools, just bring small, heavy objects (eg. tins of food, small jars filled with rice or lentils, clean stones or pebbles, heavy mugs)
- Lunch (no nuts please!)
Garment recommendations:
- Simple skirts (pencil, a-line,elasticated), elasticated waist trousers, simple dresses (wrap, a-line, easy-fitting), easy fitting tops.
Please avoid: Fitted garments, lined garments, delicate/stretch fabrics, trousers with fly front, button front shirts. A 1 day workshop would not be enough time to clone these garments.
Important Notes:
⭐️ No sewing will take place during this workshop.
⭐️ Tea/Coffee and light snacks are provided but please bring lunch and water.
**Small classes means limited availability. Please book in advance to avoid disappointment!**
Please Note: This workshop is intended to help you recreate and extend the life of your own well-loved garments—such as discontinued, vintage, or hard-to-replace pieces. It is not designed for copying the work of independent designers or commercially available patterns. We encourage respectful creativity in which the process shouldn’t be used to take someone else’s design for profit.
T’s & C’s: All courses and workshops are subject to a minimum of 4 sign ups. If there is less, we will email you within 14 days of course start date to notify you of other options of available dates or process a refund if you wish. We kindly ask for a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice for cancellations of any course or workshop. Once written confirmation from Studio Minti Makers has been processed, the customer can defer attendance. Please note that all courses and workshops are non-refundable (with the exception of said course or workshop not having enough people to run it, as stated above.)
